The Avaya IP Wireless Telephone solution is a wireless communication system that enables you to communicate over hand-held wireless telephones using your facility's Avaya Communications System. You can build your own solution using up to three of the following components: NetLink 150 Telephony Gateway, Avaya™ Wireless Voice Priority Processor (VPP), and the Avaya 3606 Wireless Telephone.

The NetLink Telephony Gateway is connected to digital station ports on your Avaya Communications Sever. When a call is received for a wireless telephone, the NetLink 150 Telephony Gateway converts the PBX call to Internet Protocol (IP) packets and sends it out over your 802.11b wireless LAN.

The Avaya 3606 Wireless Telephone receives the voice packets and assembles the conversation while maintaining exceptional voice quality. Voice quality is the main function of the Avaya Wireless Voice Priority Processor. This processor helps ensure that voice packets have priority over data packets, thereby providing consistent, high-quality voice service on your wireless network. With industry-standard 802.11b network compatibility, you gain the efficiency of converged voice and data on a single wireless infrastructure with flexible support for both direct sequence and frequency hopping 802.11 technologies. Finally, this solution offers extensive scalability from its Open Application Interfaces and field-upgradeable telephones, to its support for industry-standard 802.11b networking and easy integration with your Avaya DEFINITY Servers, Avaya Media Servers, and Avaya MultiVantage Software. This helps protect your valuable infrastructure investments by allowing your Avaya IP Wireless Telephone solution to grow and adapt to your changing business needs.
