Air Secure Access Point (ASAP) is a fully functional set of Wi-Fi compliant 802.11 protocol, networking, management, and security software components. The product is supplied as source code plus a pre-built binary for your choice of embedded operating system - Wind River's VxWorks or Embedded Linux (from various suppliers) on PowerPC, MIPS, X86 or ARM/XScale CPU architectures.
ASAP extends the reach of Wi-Fi to the device market by addressing all the Wi-Fi, wired networking, and security requirements needed to turn a tethered embedded device into an untethered embedded device accepting connections from wireless clients.
Some examples of where ASAP can create significant new growth in the use of embedded device servers include:
* Wi-Fi accessible Printer, including public access and shared MFPs (multi-function printing devices)

A significant problem that has held back embedded device designers from adding access point (AP) services to their product's feature set is not the lack of customer demand, but the lingering doubts about security and the significant hurdle in supporting and managing the various generations of IEEE 802.11 security and Wi-Fi standards in operation at the typical customer's site. ASAP solves this problem by including support for all of the necessary protocols into a framework that concurrently connects to different generations of security technology from WEP through WPA, up to WPA2/ 802.11i, in either Personal (Pre-shared Key) or Enterprise (802.1X) mode. ASAP addresses the embedded device market by offering a flexible set of management and programming interfaces specifically created for embedded device designers.
