The ABP WLAN Planning Tool helps users plan the wireless network inside buildings before deployment. The coverage area of an access point varies based on the environment and the building structure in which it is placed. The access points interfere with each other. Choosing the correct channels, transmit powers and antennas for the access points to maximize capacity is a difficult process. Choosing how many access points to deploy and where to place them is an ad hoc process.
The ABP WLAN Planning Tool automates all of these issues. The ABP WLAN Planning Tool allows the user to choose optimal locations, transmit powers, channels and antennas for their access points before deploying them in their network. The user first builds a model of the building in which the WLAN is to be deployed using our tool. The WLAN Planning Tool then takes into account the attenuation of the RF signals from the walls in the building to plan the WLAN in the building. It suggests the locations at which to place the APs, the channels for the APs and the transmit powers for the APs. It then allows the user to visualize the expected coverage in the 3D model of the building before actual deployment.
