With the IGW/400-UART serial devices with RS232 or RS422 interface, for example barcode scanners, cameras, manufacturing machinery and other data acquisition devices can be connected to a host PC using an 802.11b/g wireless network.
To connect various serial devices, the IGW/400-UART features two COM-ports. On the front face there is a 14-pin plug connector - the so called environment interface - which offers one RS232/422 interface. On the backside is a second RS232 interface with DB-9 connector.
The IGW/400-UART supports the Infrastructure mode, as well as the Ad-hoc (peer-to-peer) mode. In the Infrastructure mode, the IGW/400-UART transmits data from a serial device to the host PC by using an access point. When the Ad-hoc mode is used no access point is needed.
