Conventionally, when an 802.11b device is present inside a 802.11g environment, the performance of the entire wireless network can be brought down to the same level as the 802.11b speed (or worse). The OvisLink 802.11g family are equipped with the latest Nitro Mode technology to lessen the b+g collision problem. Nitro mode adds “RTD/CTS“ packet in front of the "11g" packets to avoid the collision and the interference with "11b" clients. Furthermore, Packet Bursting is used to extend the timing for “11g" traffic. The end result is higher overall performance in the real world environment.

The Key to WPA is the use of Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) to bolster encryption of wireless packets. TKIP provides important data encryption enhancements including a per-packet key mixing function, a message integrity check (MIC), an extended initialization vector (IV) with sequencing rules, and a re-keying mechanism. Through these enhancements, the WPA addresses all WEP's known vulnerabilities. The card also support the standard 64/128-bit WEP encrption.
