All of wStand's required parts and functions are secured in a single enclosure to ensure integrity and robustness of operation. The wStand operator does not even need to know how to operate a computer or wireless network. wStand is equipped with a coin mechanism acceptor and a receipt printer. The only required maintenance is to empty the cash drawer and refill the printer paper roll.

Wi-Fi users simply insert one or more quarters and receive a Wi-Fi Internet Access Ticket. The Wi-Fi Internet Access Ticket is printed as a receipt of the purchase and contains a secret and unique access code. Additional information is printed on the ticket that is especially useful for the first time users, such as how to configure user-device wireless interface, network parameters etc. Once the wireless and networking interfaces are configured, a user activates Internet access through a web-browser.
